Meet Katie

I grew up on early 2000s rom-coms, an era defined by a very particular kind of heroine: ambitious, capable, and firmly in the driver’s seat of her career. I also grew up watching both of my parents run their own small businesses, so the idea of building something of my own was always in the back of my mind.

My career took me to Silicon Valley, where I spent the last decade building and scaling People Operations and coaching leaders through periods of rapid growth. It was fast-paced, detail-oriented work that taught me how to manage a lot of moving pieces, anticipate problems before they happen, and bring structure and calm to environments that could otherwise feel chaotic.

Alongside my career in tech, I spent five years working in weddings and events, including with HoneyFitz, a Los Angeles-based event firm, on weddings. I loved being behind the scenes: watching months of planning come together, solving the inevitable last-minute problem, and making sure everything happened the way it was supposed to.

Earlier this year, I stepped away from tech and returned to graduate school to finish my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy. The transition gave me the space to reevaluate my relationship with work and how I wanted to spend my time. I knew that whatever came next needed to be people-oriented, creative, and connected to work I genuinely cared about. Katie Roughan Events was born out of that realization.

Today, I bring the organization of an operations leader, years of behind-the-scenes wedding experience, and a deeply human approach to planning. I’m here to understand your vision, create a plan to bring it to life, and handle the details so you can actually enjoy your event.

I earned my bachelor’s in Communication with a minor in Psychology from the University of Southern California (Fight on!) and I’m currently pursuing my master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy. I live in the East Bay with my English Bulldog, Mabel. When I’m not working, you can find me practicing my asanas at Nest Yoga, eating something delicious at Rockridge Market Hall, or taking in the views at Albany Bulb.
